The M-12 Moscow – Kazan express highway with a length of 794 km is a part of the international transport route Europe – Western China (ITR EWC). According to the statement of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, in the next three to four years, M-12 will be the largest road project in Russia, of particular importance for the entire Eurasian space.

Section 4 of M-12 construction will pass through the territories of the Vladimir and Nizhny Novgorod regions, from the intersection with the highway of regional significance "Murom – M-7 Volga" to the federal highway "Nizhny Novgorod – Saratov". The total length of the section will be 123 kilometers. M-12 highway at the 4th stage will cross eight rivers, the most will be the bridge crossing above the Oka river, the width of the river there is 380 meters.
